This is an opportunity for a committed and passionate academic with a clear vision and excellent interpersonal skills to join Nottingham Trent University as a new Professor of Neuroscience in their expanding Department of Biosciences. You will undertake personal research at the forefront of neuroscience research at a professorial level, contributing to the strategic direction of the Centre for Systems Health and Integrated Metabolic Research (SHiMR). SHiMR takes a multi-disciplinary approach to discovering the mechanisms underpinning ageing- and life-style- related metabolic decline, neurological disorders, immune-metabolic aspects of cancer and its related therapeutics (including the affiliated John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre: JvGCRC), and the interface of the microbiota with health and disease. The goal of the Centre is to enrich the fundamental knowledge-base underpinning future interventions and therapies to support healthy ageing in society.
The post holder will further establish NTU Biosciences as an internationally recognised force, bringing together interdisciplinary experts under the collective mission of innovating neuroscience research and education, with the goal of improving the global understanding of health and wellbeing.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to mold, and mentor junior scientists, further develop the already substantial facilities at our Clifton campus and promote research excellence to stakeholders.
The University is making multi-million-pound investments in both buildings and equipment at the award-winning “green” Clifton campus. You will work primarily within our Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (ISTeC) building and have access to our state-of-the-art facilities for imaging, spatial transcriptomics and in vivo metabolic analysis, interacting with the JvGCRC and recently established medical technology innovation facility (MTIF).
