Marika Charalambous is a non-clinical scientist and group leader in the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at King’s College London. She started her group in 2013, which uses mouse models to investigate mechanisms of growth and maternal-fetal interaction. Her work was funded initially by an MRC-New Investigator grant, and she has successfully won funding from the MRC, BBSRC and industry. She is currently the Research and Impact lead for the School of Basic and Medical Biosciences at KCL, where she advises junior academics on their early career grants and fellowship applications. She is a panel member of the Royal Society Newton Fellowships committee, a member of the Wellcome Trust Future Leaders Peer Review College, and a panel member for the BBSRC. She also regularly reviews grants for the MRC and sits on the Society for Endocrinology’s Science Committee.
